Analysis of Gas Flux Components
Author:
Gas flux: A chemical substance that can assist and promote the welding process while providing protection against oxidation reactions. Flux can be categorized into solid, liquid, and gas. It has several key functions including 'assisting heat conduction', 'removing oxides', 'reducing the surface tension of welding materials', 'removing oil stains from welding materials, increasing the welding area', and 'preventing re-oxidation'. Two key functions of gas flux are 'removing oxides' and 'reducing the surface tension of welding materials'. Please pay attention to the following points when using:

1. The residue of gas flux after welding is corrosive to metals; it should be immediately washed with water or wiped clean with a damp cloth after welding.
2. When using gas flux, please wear safety goggles, masks, rubber gloves, and other protective gear to avoid direct contact with the flux.
3.Gas fluxShould be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated sealed container.
4. Avoid directly discharging used residual flux into the sewer.
5. Wash hands before eating or smoking after using the flux.
Gas fluxComponent analysis:
1. Gas flux: Hydrogen and inorganic salts
Hydrogen and inorganic salts mainly utilize their reducing properties to react with oxides; for example, hydrogen in gas flux results in water as a residue after welding. The reduction by hydrogen can effectively remove oxides from metal surfaces, converting them into water. This not only protects metal materials from oxidation but also protects the environment from pollution.
2. Gas flux: Organic acids
Organic acid activators can react to a certain extent with oxides; the carboxyl group of organic acids can remove the oxide film from pads and solder in the form of metal soaps. Rosin is a common substance in flux, containing carboxyl groups. It has a certain fluxing effect under specific temperature conditions and also plays a role in heat transfer and coverage during the welding process, protecting the metal from re-oxidation after removing the oxide film.
3.Gas flux: Organic halides
Carboxylic acid halides and organic amine hydrogen halides are both organic halides. During welding, the melted flux reacts to some extent with the copper metal of the substrate, generating copper compounds that react with tin in the melted solder to produce metallic copper, which dissolves into the solder, allowing it to flow on the copper plate.
4.Gas flux: Composite use of organic amines and acids
To reduce the corrosive effect of flux on copper plates, a certain amount of buffer is added to the prepared flux; organic amines are often used for rapid neutralization with organic acids. Such neutralization products are unstable and will quickly decompose at welding temperatures, regenerating organic acids and organic amines, thereby reducing the acidity of residues and minimizing corrosion.
