The storage of solder is very important.
Author:
SolderIt consists of an electrode core and a coating. One of the functions of the silver electrode core is to conduct electricity as an electrode. At the same time, it is also the main material for forming the welding metal. Therefore, the quality of the electrode core directly affects the welding performance of the solder. They are all specially manufactured high-quality steel for welding carbon steel. The electrode core is usually low carbon steel with 0.08%C. The widely used types are H08 and H08A, which have strict limits on carbon content as well as harmful impurities like sulfur and phosphorus. The diameter of the electrode (i.e., the diameter of the electrode core) is 2.5-6mm, and the length is 350-450mm.

Although solder has the ability to resist external damage under normal circumstances, it should not be overlooked that solder can easily be damaged due to poor storage. Solder is a ceramic product. It cannot withstand impacts like a steel core, so it must not be dropped during loading and unloading. Solder packaged in cardboard boxes should not be hooked with hooks. Certain types of electrodes, such as alkaline electrodes with special drying requirements, should be handled more carefully than ordinary electrodes. Generally, solder is packaged in plastic bags and cardboard boxes. To prevent moisture absorption, silver solder rods should not be casually unpacked before use. Attempt to remove them for current use. If possible, reseal the remainder after welding.Solder.
Acidic electrodes are not sensitive to moisture, while organic rutile electrodes can withstand higher moisture content. Therefore, they should be dried at 70-150° for one hour according to specific humidity conditions. Short storage time and well-packaged. Usually, drying is not required before use. Alkaline low-hydrogen solder needs to be dried before use to reduce hydrogen content and prevent defects such as holes and cracks. The general drying temperature is 350°C for one hour. Do not suddenly place solder rods into a high-temperature furnace or cool them suddenly to avoid skin cracking due to dryness. If there are special requirements for hydrogen content, the drying temperature should be increased to 400-500°C for one hour. Dried alkaline electrodes are recommended to be stored in another low-temperature drying box controlled at 50-100°C and taken as needed. When drying electrodes, each layer of solder should not be stacked too thick (usually 1-3 layers) to avoid uneven heating and moisture that is difficult to remove when drying electrodes. When operating in an outdoor environment, silver electrodes need to be properly stored overnight and must not be left in an outdoor environment.SolderThey should be stored in a constant temperature low-temperature box; otherwise, they need to be re-dried before use the next day.
